District 51 STAGE 2B Summer Activity Guidelines
District 51 will follow Mesa County Public Health, NFHS and SMAC (Sports Medicine Advisory Committee) Guidelines for Opening High School Athletics and Activities. Reminder: Participation is strictly voluntary and only for high school students. ALL DATES AND PROCEDURES LISTED BELOW ARE TARGETS AND SUBJECT TO CHANGE, contingent on keeping the spread of COVID -19 at a manageable level. Stage 2B: Starting Aug. 3
General Activity Description Individual Skill Development & Workouts Gym floors will be disinfected after each use.
Symptom screening - NFHS Coach monitoring checklist (Google Form with daily responses from questionnaire). If a student has symptoms or answers yes - coaches will contact parents and remove the student from the activity. Groups meeting off campus may use hand sanitizer instead of washing hands. All participants and staff enter/exit through the same location(s) each day. Pods will not enter and exit from the same point. One way entrance, another way exit, Only restrooms, weight room and gyms will be opened. Locker Rooms will NOT be available. FACE COVERINGS ARE TO BE WORN AT ALL TIMES INDOORS and OUTDOORS WHEN SOCIAL DISTANCING IS NOT POSSIBLE.
Attendance will be taken, and kept on file, for all sessions. Athletes who are late and miss screening will not participate that day. Athletes can only be a part of two different pods (if they play multiple sports) and need to stay in the same pods for the duration of Stage 2B. All participants must have a personal water bottle(s) - no team jugs or water fountains may be used. Water fountains will be covered up and not used. There may be up to 50 people in the area doing the same outdoor activity in pods of 15 or less. Athletes are to stay in the same pod for the duration of Stage 2B
Weight Room
Pod size limit: 15 - One user per station. No lifts that require a spotter. Equipment must be wiped down after each individual use and the entire area needs to be sanitized by the coach after the group is finished. Restroom facilities will be made available to all students- no matter the group. All individuals need to wash hands prior and after each workout Pods must remain the same from Stage 1B, new participants can be added to an existing pod as long as the group size is 15 or under. Masks worn in and out of weight room, but not during the lift.
Cross Country
Runners should maintain at least 6 feet of distancing between individuals, no grouping (i.e. start or finish) All individuals need to wash hands prior and after each workout. Group may start off campus. Update participants may use hand sanitizer when off campus instead of washing hands
Tennis
Each player must use own can of balls to play and use racket to pass other balls. CHSAA & Governor Polis have approved a modified season to start Aug. 10. All individuals need to wash hands prior and after each workout. Teams and individuals must follow the CHSAA bulletin. Group may start off campus. Participants may use hand sanitizer when meeting off campus instead of washing hands
Track
Runners should maintain at least 6 feet of distancing between individuals, no grouping (i.e. start or finish). NO sharing of implements/equipment. Padded equipment will NOT be allowed. All individuals need to wash hands prior and after each event. Participants may use hand sanitizer when meeting off campus instead of washing hands Group may gather off campus but are limited to pods of 15 with a max of 50 on the field. Pods must be 20 feet apart
Golf
Maintain appropriate physical distancing of 6 feet. CHSAA & Governor Polis have approved the season to start Aug. 3. All individuals need to wash hands prior and after each event. Participants may use hand sanitizer when meeting off campus instead of washing hands Groups may meet at Golf Course. Teams and individuals must follow the CHSAA bulletin.
Volleyball
Drills and play may take place as long as all individuals wear masks at all times in the gym. Gym floor is to be disinfected after each pod. All individuals need to wash hands prior and after each workout. Volleyballs need to be disinfected after each use or be kept separate for each pod for entire stage. Gyms will be opened to a pod of 15 athletes. Pods need to have their own specific volleyballs. Nets may be set up.
Soccer
Drills and play may take place as long as all individuals wear masks at all times during participation. Masks do not have to be worn if participants can maintain social distancing. All individuals need to wash hands prior and after each workout. Balls need to be disinfected after each use or need to be separated and used by only one pod during the stage. Group may gather off campus but are limited to pods of 15 with a max of 50 on the field. Pods must be 20 feet apart
Baseball
Play and drills make take place as long as all players wear masks. Players should not share gloves or bats. Players may hit in cages, throw batting practice. Baseballs must be disinfected after each pods use or kept separate for each pod. All individuals need to wash hands prior and after each workout (or use hand sanitizer). Masks are not required if social distancing can be maintained at all times. Groups may gather off campus but are limited to pods of 15. Max of 50 people in an area with at least 20 feet between pods.
Softball

Drills and shooting make take place in a gym as long as players wear masks at all times. Courts must be disinfected after each use. All individuals need to wash hands prior and after each workout. Basketballs need to be disinfected after each use or basketballs need to be separated and used by only one pod during the stage. Gyms will be opened to a max pod of 15.
Wrestling
Conditioning, mirror drills with spacing, no player to player contact. Wrestlers may skill and drill without touching a teammate. Masks must be worn at all times when indoors. Mats must be disinfected after each use by pods. All individuals need to wash hands prior and after each event Wrestling rooms will be opened to a pod of 15.
Cheerleading/Poms
Conditioning and individual technique/choreography work permitted. Chants, jumps, dance, without contact is permitted. All participants must wears masks if students are indoors or cannot maintain social distancing at all times outdoors. All individuals need to wash hands prior and after each event. No cheer mats may be used. Students may not practice or participate in partner or group stunts Groups may meet off campus with a limit of 15 individuals per pod and an outdoor group of 50 with at least 20 feet between pods.
Football
Conditioning and individual drills. Footballs may be used, but no contact with other players is allowed. Protective equipment is prohibited. All individuals need to wash hands prior and after each workout. Blocking dummies, sleds and hand bags can be used, but must be disinfected between pods. Participants must wear masks if social distancing cannot be maintained. Pods of 15 allowed with a max of 50 individuals on the field. Footballs must remain with specific pods or disinfected after each pod's use.
Lacrosse
Conditioning and drills are allowed. Players can play catch and work on ball handling drills. If social distancing is not possible, masks must be worn. There can be no player to player contact. Balls must be disinfected after each pods use. All individuals need to wash hands prior and after each event Pods of 15 allowed with a max of 50 individuals on the field.
